1. Why This Research Matters
As the gateway port for Trinidad and Tobago, the Port Authority of Port-of-Spain (PAPOS) is at the forefront of a digital revolution. My research focuses on the strategic adoption and implementation of emerging technologies to enhance port operations at PAPOS. This is crucial for boosting efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability in an increasingly complex maritime industry (Heilig et al., 2017).
2. What I’ve Learned So Far
So far, I’ve explored cutting-edge technologies transforming ports around the world, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and blockchain. I’ve been fascinated by how smart ports can optimize operationsβfrom automated cargo handling to predictive analytics and green energy solutions (Boadu, 2025).
